ACTIVE PLAYERS:

24. SNOWFROG - SHORTSTOP

Snowfrog can read minds when she can see them straight in the eye. Except librarians. Until she builds up her confidence, she can’t see someone in the eyes for too long, only allowing her to read someone’s most recent memory, and most upcoming action. Snowfrog can use her ability on any opponent in sight in the scenario of combat or conversation. In both cases she rolls a 1d20 READER stat check and if it’s higher than the enemy’s COMPOSURE stat, her attempt is successful. If the ability is used in combat or baseball she can learn the enemy’s next move. If used in a conversation, she can spot a lie .

11. ORESTIS THE FIRST - SHORTSTOP

Orestis says puns all the time, without knowing if they will land or not. Against an opponent, he can roll a 1d20 CROWDPLEASER stat check against a Difficulty Check of 10/15/20 (Specified by the DM). If it passes, the pun is funny and the opponent is affected accordingly. If it doesn’t, the pun is bad and Orestis lost his turn. If Orestis actually has a pun, there’s no dice roll needed.. the DM judges if it’s a good one or a bad one :D

3. THE KNOBBYWOOD - CATCHER

The Knobbywood can flip his eyelids inside out and can stun any opponent with this gross skill. He can’t hold it for long though because his eyes go too dry. Knobbywood can stun an opponent in sight. He rolls a 1d20 MINDGAMES stat check against the enemy’s COMPOSURE stat to see if successful. If successful, the enemy is stunned and loses their turn. But for the next turn TheKnobbyWood loses his vision.

6. PITCHORIS - PITCHER

Pitchoris is a patient frog. His patience allows him to try again with no consequence sometimes. Against any opponent, Pitchoris has an advantage on the POKERFACE, MINDGAMES and CROWDPLEASER stat checks. Advantage means he gets to roll 2d20 and keep the highest roll.

4. WIN ASSAKUL - OUTFIELD

Win can read the field like no other and his empathy relays the information to others, but his daydreaming gets the better of him.  As a result, he can choose to have a massive boost of +10 on the AWARE stat check against Opponents’ relevant stats (called by the DM) or the environment during reconnaissance. When successful, he can +2 buff the team’s stats based on the info he gathers, but after 2 turns.

27. STAVROS PAPAVASSILIOU - OUTFIELD

StavrosCardFront.png

Stavros conjures his analysis abilities by working on his Rubiks Cube. At any moment, he can use his Cube for a turn, and in the next turn he has a +2 boost on any Mental Stat check.

14. SAM DE SMET - BASEFROG

As a lazy frog, Sam has a disadvantage on every physical stat check (throws 2d20 and keeps the lowest). But as a creative frog, he has the ability to improvise with his surroundings. He can roll 1d20 before any physical stat check on a Difficulty Check given by the DM, if it passes, the disadvantage becomes an advantage.

69. JORREN THORNTON - CATCHER

Jorren is the ultimate Hype man! but he judges people too quickly! When he hypes someone up, they get a +1 on any stat check as well as an advantage! (throwing 2d20 but keeping the highest one). Problem is, sometimes he hypes up the bad guy! When the opponent is low on health, Jorren hypes them up instead, giving the enemy +2 on all stats. To hype someone up he must do a CROWDPLEASER stat check against a Difficulty check of 10/15/20 (Specified by the DM)

23. KOO - OUTFIELD

Koo is one with nature - specifically birds and clouds! Once a day she can either call a migration of birds or summon clouds. The clouds cover the sun completely, making it very hard for snakes to see. Summoned birds take a turn to arrive, but when they do they grab the active ball from wherever it is (unless it’s underwater) and deliver it to Koo wherever she is. In a combat scenario Koo can command the birds to attack or to join a CHAIN (where no checks are needed)

CODE OF CONDUCT

Hello frog citizens! Welcome to the MULLETTEERS team! I hope you’re excited for this adventure! Before it starts, this is essentially your last day of gruelling training before you become the ultimate frog baseball team. I would like you to read this post so that we are all on the same page on how to interact with each other in creating the story together!

This is a slow game! We write the story together and read it as it unfolds. In a world as crazy and fast-paced as ours, I think it would be awesome if you do what this game encourages: Sit for a bit, drink a coffee or tea while you read the story, and add your own actions to it.

I think we all need a pause like this.

The basic concept:

  1. I describe a scene through visuals, sounds, texts and videos (blogpost)

  2. You write how you want your character to interact with the scene (visuals welcome!) - (through a comment on the blogpost)

  3. I describe the consequences (new blogpost)

I suggest you check this page once a day or every two days to see what’s happening, as the interface is further smoothed out :)

Although the game is slow, for the sake of storytelling pace I will be posting every 3 days. Anyone's inaction will reflect in the unfolding of the story.

This is a game of teamwork! And like the sport of frog baseball itself, teamwork will be fun to play with and fail at!

You are your characters!

For the sake of fun and the story, think as your characters, not yourselves. Think about how your character would interact with stuff as opposed to yourself. You each have a character with stats, flaws and desires. Based on these suggestions you can further develop your characters and act as them within this world. Be as descriptive or simple as you like with your posts and actions, but I suggest when you post as your character start the post with your character’s name. When you post as yourself to elaborate what you mean or if you have a question declare that you are talking Outside Of Game (OOG)

A post can have as many OOG and CharacterName as you like.

Preferably you can think of this story like a book that keeps on growing, so being descriptive is nice! If you describe your character’s actions in 3rd person and put their thoughts or actual words in quotation marks, it will be ideal. (But I won’t hold you to it!)

Good Example of a post:

Snowfrog: As she sees the snake coming towards her, she thinks “Balls” and shouts “NOT DURING BREAKFAST TIME!!!” and throws a bunch of half-cooked oats towards it aiming to obscure its vision. OOG: I thought I would specify where exactly she aims, but I see it more like a random spray towards the snake.

As a general rule of thumb, don’t write your actions’ consequences on other players. Just write the intention of your action.

Bad example: She swings her bat and makes the snake blind.

Good example: She swings her bat aiming to render the snake practically blind.

The good example allows others to add their action to it, making it a team effort, and allows us to figure out if the action was successful!

Rules: There are no rules in what you can do in the world! I have a set of guidelines on how to solve actions and dice rolls will be happening relatively often. We can either trust each other to do the dice rolls ourselves, or you can trust ME and I can roll everything for you. (after I elaborate how and why they have taken place).

Whenever there’s actions coming up, I will write up the guidelines for you to decide accordingly. For example, the weapons you chose have special features, in the right time I will tell you what those features are, and you can choose to activate them or not. This goes for navigation guides, using the stats on your cards and what they mean etc. I will also answer any questions involving how things work.

Let’s make an awesome story together! Lets plan and improvise! Lets gamify every decision or action you make! :D

NEW BEGINNINGS

“OMG it’s finally happening!!!!!” says the Waterfrog.

“I’ve watched all yous train and yous developed my dudes - and dudette! I mean, sure snakes are totally massive and scary and most frogs have died within hours, but I can tell you dudes are different! I can’t wait to see you destroy them tomorrow!”

The Waterfrog is cut off by the Quartermaster:

“Alright that’s enough! just let them be! - This way..”

The night is dark and you all just completed your training. The Waterboy and the Quartermaster are guiding you through the mazes to your dorm.

“Okay fine………….but man! I don’t think you guys understand how much training changed you! In some cases your DNA abilities got better, and in other cases got worse, but at least you’re ready for your positions!!!! Catchers, Shorstops, Pitchers OMG! It’s an honour to carry your water around! Who needs limbs LOL!”

“QUIET!!!” Shouts the Quartermaster as he brings you in your dorm.

It’s tiny, empty and.. is that bleach with lemon scent in the air?

The old frog is tired: “Alright rookies, this is where you’ll be staying. We cleaned it and removed everything that previous frogs… um… forgot..” He signals the Waterfrog to keep his mouth shut.

….but the young frog can’t help it: “That’s an awkward pause if I ever saw one, am I right guys??”

The Old frog face palms but carries on: “We didn’t expect so many entries this time around so you’ll have to share some beds.”

“Imma head off, why don’t you sort it among yourselves on how to share the beds.. claim them, put your belongings around.. pee on them, however you mark teritorry..” He exits the room and quickly bobs his head in: “Oh and by the way, camaraderie helps, so if anything, sharing what made you call the summons and where you’re from would help more than just resting for the night. But also rest, but not too much.. just right.. but better than none”.

They both exit the room for good.. but Waterfrog shouts: “If you need me, just flick the switch by the door and I’ll come right up!”

OOG: Welcome guys!!!
Here’s a link to an editable google drive if you prefer to drag your icons on the bed you want to claim! We can do that after you’ve chatted through comments here etc.

THE RUCKUS

The scene:

As the night draws to a close, Orestis tries to get comfy in the weird door-bed, a bit traumatised from the events that just happened… he plays them over and over again in his head:

his eye is bugging him.. red from a fresh mixture of pee and psychedelic saliva.

Snowfrog in the mean time is completely oblivious and loving life! After totally marking her territory, she goes and flicks the switch waiting for the Waterfrog.

As she waits, Pitchoris organises his space since nobody took his suggestion of holding hands. Right before he goes to bed he opens the window above him and lets some flies come in. IT’S A FEAST!!

At that very moment he turns around and sees The Knobbywood right there next to him, just quietly staring at him.

He’s weirded out a bit but figures the Knobbywood just did that to everyone before tucking under Stavros’ desk-bed. Stavros thought he’d be safe on the no-sharing game but he finds himself sharing the underside with Knobbywood.. at least the gameboy chip tunes are soothing.

Just as they are all about to go to sleep..

“Did someone call your very own Wate —” The Waterfrog ’s excitement is turned into a pleasant shock. He enters the room by walking on top of Win and Sam, who were so tired they just fell asleep right there at the entrance..

“Wow OMG guys! You’re not holding back with making this place your own! Love what you did to that desk! Good idea! No frog stayed long enough to warrant sending letters anyway! ha!” “Oops I see you found the bloodstain.. heh.. was hoping to hold back on cleaning it until after the inning.. we might have more stains to clean by then.. haha.. ha.. ha.. iaaaaanyway..” thinking that someone must have called him, he noticed only Snowfrog looking at him while everyone else was trying to sleep.. “did you call me?”

OOG: Okay guys a few things!

1) I added the mechanics of your special abilities next to your cards at the top post! These will be handy coming up.. knowing when to use them etc.

2) time to roll some dice. I can do it for you or you can post your rolls yourselves. Here’s an online link for rolling I trust you.. here’s how the dice rolls work in this game.

You all have stats on your card. Each stat has a number. That number is your BASE. You must roll ONE twenty-sided DICE (also known as 1d20). if your roll is 10 then add ZERO to your stat. If it’s above 10, add the difference (for example if it’s 14, add 4), and if it’s below 10, subtract the difference (if it’s 7 then subtract 3).

I also added the info on this stuff at the top. It sounds complicated but it will become pretty natural soon!

Let me know if you want me to roll this stuff for you.

You’re trying to sleep, most of you at least.. this means roll the dice as explained above, against the DIFFICULTY CHECK OF 15

Pitchoris: You are still fighting your OCD nature and trying to keep composed. If you want to sleep do a COMPOSED stat check (roll 1d20 and add or subtract the number on your base stat) - If higher than 15 you succeed

Snowfrog: If you want to sleep you also need a COMPOSED stat check (roll 1d20 and add or subtract the number on your base stat) - If higher than 15 you succeed

TheKnobbyWood: You are playing your game trying to hit that high score. You can either do a LIGHTHANDS stat check (roll 1d20 and add or subtract the number on your base stat) or win a round of this game on this link: you can also ask friends for help! - If higher than 15 you succeed

Stavros: You are trying to listen to Knobbywood’s gameboy instead of the noise around you. If you want to sleep you need to do an AWARENESS stat check (roll 1d20 and add or subtract the number on your base stat) - If lower than 15 you succeed

Orestis: You are trying to keep your cool and forget the sting in your eye. If you want to sleep you also need to do a COMPOSED stat check (roll 1d20 and add or subtract the number on your base stat) - If higher than 15 you succeed

A NEW DAY

END OF NIGHT

The Waterfrog takes in Snowfrog’s whispers as his own private ASMR session. “I’ll see what I can do” as he leaves the room singing the macarena.

Snowfrog intense lick wipes the stain completely clean and her mysterious vision of the frog of baseball past leads to more questions rather than answers. There’s a chance that in another dimension there’s an inning happening where the Macarena is integral to the success of the frogs. Or is it the past? Or the future? Such musings remain unclear and seeing her unique way of getting back to bed, Orestis and the rest are wondering if that’s another attempt of Snowfrog to claim parts of the room. Seeing her hide in her bed-nook, they believe she will watch them all night.

Knobbywood doesn’t care, he’s hidden anyway. As his chip tunes die out with a tiny grunt of frustration, Pitchoris assumes his Catcher friend-to-be messed up the combo and is now going to bed. Pitchoris forgets about Snowfrog and can’t help but wonder if the outcome would be different were the two buttons cleaned with his box of tissues. He struggles with that thought for a bit, while Orestis on the door-bed manages to resist the psychedelic pain in his eye, and a moment before he comfortably falls asleep, he drops his awesome ‘follow your dreams’ joke. Was it in his joke book or has Snowfrog’s psychedelic saliva given him divine inspiration? Either way, it’s funny and it puts Pitchoris at ease and he very quickly goes to slee-zzzzzzzzzz.

Stavros however is another story. He is so into his own nihilistic thoughts and pondering on the purpose of existence, that he didn’t even hear Orestis joke… or Snowfrog’s antics, or Knobbywoods clunky button presses. If only Orestis could see but he is already asleep. Stavros just ponders on the ethics of existence, tadpoles and destiny. He wonders if there’s a higher force controlling his thoughts and moves, and licks his own toes and farts on his own pillow. He then falls asleep taking in the lingering smell of cricket nugget farts.

The night comes to an end and Win remains on top of Sam, both snoring pretty loudly!

THE MORNING AFTER

“Wakey Wakeyyyyyy….!” The waterfrog wakes everyone up. He doesn’t seem to have the power to wake Win and Sam up. “Are these guys okay? Are they comatose or something? Wow I guess that’s my big word of the day! Comatose.. heh.. Anyway come on guys! Up you get let’s head to the dugout! The coach is waiting!”. The frog loads up Win and Sam on a wheelbarrow and guides the new MULLETTEERS to the dugout.

The MULLETTEERS find themselves in the dugout. There’s fans outside and they are already chanting. The room is below water level, with the sandbags keeping the water of the pond away. There loads of equipment lying around such as baseballs, bats, gloves, helmets and even how-to guides and literature on awesome baseball moves! In the middle of the room theres a little huddle area surrounding a map. The waterfrog unloads the wheelbarrow and points out “Hey Snowfrog! I worked all night but I installed a little stovetop and you can find 7 spoons and 7 bowls under there. Did my best but I could only get my mama’s breastmilk in such short notice!”

“Mama’s milk? What do you think we’re doing here? We ain’t raisin’ no babies here!” interrupts the Coach. “SORRY SIR!” shouts Waterfrog. “DIIIIIIIIIIIISMISSED!” As the Waterfrog leaves.. The coach rolls his wheelchair right in your face, and an awesome looking mysterious catcher is right behind him.

OOG: Nice one guys! You’ve been introduced to a lot of the storytelling mechanics so far and are now moving on closer to the baseball part of the story! :D The image has suggestions on what you can do, but you can literally do whatever you want. The coach’s chat is just suggestions. Just keep in mind that your characters are meant to be crunched for time.

Also! We have a new player! Welcome the other catcher! Jorren! Card and special ability added at the top! You guys are an awesome team to smash the snakes. In the innings you might need to talk to each other a bit to get the best chance to destroy the snakes.

Some of you managed to sleep and some of you didn’t. So that gives you advantages and disadvantages accordingly

Knobbywood - You stayed up a tiny bit more, so your awareness is a bit off. You get a disadvantage on your AWARE checks

Everyone else - you fell asleep okay so your stat’s remain as they are!

THE MAP

The dugout is getting more and more damp. You’d think that’s normal but that’s actually Orestis’ doing. His super energetic bouncing has destroyed some sandbags.. so the water’s invading! It’s coming in!! No wonder Stavros is freaking out! In fact he is freaking out so much that he gives in to his panic mode and dumps his head in the water to cool off. Like the snoring Win and Sam, he seems to be in his own world for the time being.

Weirdly enough, Snowfrog is too busy thinking of cinnamon and chugging down oats to notice any of that, even though she is the closest one to the streams of water!

Orestis doesn’t notice at all, as he’s planked his way to the map waiting intently.. we don’t know if he’s waiting for the tactics, or for another chance to throw a pun.

Pitchoris on the other hand is still meditating, which is good for him cause he’d be probably freaking out too, since the dugout is just gonna get messier. Guess it’s time to focus on the map for all of them.. which is exactly what the Coach reminds them of! The only ones that don’t need reminding are KnobbyWood and Jorren.. at least it’s what it looks like.. there’s a chance Jorren is too focused on the food and Knobby on protecting it..

“Alright listen here boys! Come on huddle up! The dugout won’t last long.. but at least Orestis gave us a glimpse on what the first snake looks like!

When you see it on the field, you might wanna investigate it closer before Pitchoris throws the first ball!” he coughs again before he continues…

“I will make some suggestions based on things that worked other times! Don’t be limited to these positions, but usually

Pitchers go here

Catchers go here

Shortstops go here, or DIVE here

Basefrogs go here

and Outfield Frogs go here

but like I said, you can go anywhere and do anything! Don’t shy away from pushing a lillypad or two, that can really mess up the snakes! But I wouldn’t worry about that yet.. just know that you have to do it selectively otherwise you might not get a chance to throw or receive the ball coming at ya!

So.. what do you wanna do? Go to the link and put your pieces where you wanna start!”

OOG:

Follow the link above to mess around with the map! We’ll be using the google drive for a while soon to figure out how to deal with the snakes!

Orestis: You drank the power up so you get to choose which PHYSICAL stat you want to improve for the inning. Choose one and give it a +2

Pitchoris: You are meditating. You get to choose which MENTAL stat you want to improve from the inning. Choose one and give it a +2

Knobbywood: You are eating so you are back in full effect! No bonuses but you remove your disadvantage!

Snowfrog and Jorren: You are eating, for the duration of the inning you get to choose 2 physical stats to get +1. Choose which two and add +1 to each.

Nice one guys! It might get a bit complicated soon, so Imma start introducing some Baseball mechanics, you’ll slowly familiarise yourselves with your cards and how to move in this world. Check the first post for mechanics on movement and defending! We’ll take it step by step anyway, and those things will only start in a few posts anyway.

For now if you can go to the link and choose your starting positions it’d be awesome! Remember that anything goes and feel free to talk tactics here :D

SNAKES ARE HERE!

As the players come in the stage, the Monk reporter begins to note what he sees:

Monk Reporter

“Pitchoris mysteriously thinks the mound is taken. So he decides to throw from further away. While questioning his own worth, he begins to prep his wind-up technique. As he’s prepping, the rest of the team are focusing up. Some have stepped up on their lillies, while others are just swimming on the surface! Snowfrog is nicely floating in her oat bag (it’s waterproof). Jorren is planting his feet nicely on his lillypad. The Knobbywood is hustled on the first base lilly, keeping it balanced. Stavros is chilling in the infield like the Big Lebowski nihilists. Orestis is floating on the water, watching his tears blend with the pond’s less salty liquid.

The Snakey Snake slides up to the plate, looking very snakey and very focused.

The coach throws in a prayer and the Water-frog is preparing the stretcher.

Let’s see what the MULLETTEERS want to do”

OOG: Awesome guys! Amazing to see you take on the game and position yourselves on the map!

I shared a google doc at the top where the rules are, with a bunch of mechanics. I have a lot more to add, but I wanna slowly add them for you to not overwhelm anyone. For every post I’ll guide you to what you need to check or what you need to do to continue the ball rolling :D

As we are heading for STEP 2 of the PREP phase, I’ll be typing up stuff a bit.. and we’ll move to the PowerPoint to keep the action fluid. I’ll then post finalised moments of the action here. :D

So as per mechanics. STEP 2 of PREP phase:

EVERYONE EXCEPT PITCHORIS needs to state:

  1. What defending equipment you will activate from the ones you are carrying(and do the relevant stat roll)

  2. What STAT check you want to roll to affect the snake - if you’re not sure what a STAT will do to a snake, you can check what the google doc says.. If you think what you want to do isn’t covered by a check, just write what you want to do to the snake and we’ll figure it out

  3. Declare if you want to use your special ability (as shown next to your card at the top post) and it can reveal mysterious things or affect the snake or your team-mates in weird ways!

If anything’s too complicated, let me know and we’ll go through it together! I’m always around for clarifications and questions!

SNAKE FEVER

Monk Reporter Warty: Jorren keeps on rapping, he’s augmenting his beatbox with splashing around. It looks like there’s some real technique in his splashing! I bet he’s better at swimming than normal! At least for now folks! Looks like that mental tic tac toe game has worked on Jorren’s favour! Looks like he played the snake’s mind like a fiddle and got it thinking where to bat. I bet the snake thinks it chose the batting spot itself, but I know a successful mind game when I see one, do you think he did the old “Oh boy it’d be bad to bat here” fake reveal trick? No time to answer cause OMG will you look at that the Knobbywood is one with the crowd if I didn’t know any better folks I’d say he’s literally IN the crowd! But no I’m joking he’s still at first base crushing it, augmenting the chants of the fans, augmenting the beatbox and his crotch thrusting is off the charts - kids look away! I gotta say I don’t think Orestis is crying anymore guys.

Monk Reporter Snorty: Yeah that’s right Warty, if you look closely he is just trying to get his flasher to work. Looks like it’s working just fine and he’s freaking out for no reason! He seems to think that it emits darkness.. for all I know that’s true but it’s probably handy underwater anyway! We’ll see what happens if and when the ball goes underwater.

Warty: Sure sure, but it doesn’t look well for him otherwise.

Snorty: Yep yep yep, looks like he spent too much energy freaking out and his water-reading skills might be off..

Warty: No luck on reading those water currents right?

Snorty: You got that right!

Warty: .. and is that Snowfrog?

Snorty: Yep! That’s our new number 24, the other shortstop. Her fascination with oats has kept the team fed looks like! And I can tell that her accuracy is up.

Warty: Oh what makes you say that Snorty?

Snorty: I wouldn’t be a good reporter if I’d reveal my sources Warty

Warty: I thought reporters had to have sources?

Snorty: Not anymore! Ha!

Warty: umm.. okay.. OH WOW did you see that? Looks like she’s trying to decipher what the snake’s composure is! Look at her focus it’s incredible! Snowfrog is focusing more and more.. but she doesn’t seem to be able to see beyond the snake’s shiny skin. Her failure is only making her more and more determined to read the snake though!

Snorty: SHHHH!!! Let her focus! It’s obvious she’s reading her special mind reading ability.

Snowfrog is determined. She puts her shyness aside even if it’s for a split second and pierces her gaze right through the snake’s own eyes! Its thoughts are there. Clear as day:

“WTF isssss going on? So loud in here! This is throwing me off my game!! At least this catcher revealed where I should bat! Ha! Sucker! Nobody can out trick me haha! Is she looking at me? Makes sense cause I’m so gorgeous! Like.. too gorgeous? I even manage to pull this shitty blue streaks off! Wow still looking at me, should I wink? She’s too far from my reach but maybe I can get close later. I just need to remember to keep my poison fangs to myself! Where was I? Hmm this beat and the fans are so loud but boy is this beat catchy! Unts unts unts baby.. I wonder what I should have for breakfast later, but the thing with..”

Snowfrog becomes too self conscious and pulls her gaze out of the snake’s. Looks like she figured some stuff out about the snake.

Snorty: Okay I think she’s done now. I think it’s time for Pitchoris to step up and -

Warty: No wait! I think that’s Stavros mysteriously moving!

Snorty: You’re frogdamn right he is! Looks like he’s putting his blinder on very very silently! If it wasn’t for us here I think it’d go unnoticed. OH WOW the blinder is effective though! That snake is messed up it can’t see well! I bet it’s reflexes are gonna be off!

Warty: And its accuracy!

Snorty: You bet you bet. Well it’s time for Pitchoris to step up and throw the first pitch!
Warty: The moment we’ve all been waiting for! I wonder what ball he’ll use

Snorty: And I wonder what limb he’ll use to throw it

Warty: or tongue!

Snorty: Also, where will he aim??

Warty: We’ll find out after the break!
Snorty: and what will he do? Overhand?

Warty: Underhand?

Snorty: Does it matter?

Warty: Not sure

Snorty: Me neither

Warty: Will you let me have the last word for once?

Snorty:……….No

OOG: Cool stuff guys! Thanks for giving the mechanics a go so far! It’s time for Pitchoris to state what ball to use, limb or tongue, and where to pitch!

Pitchoris: Thanks to your team-mates, you know the snake’s composure stat, and you know that its accuracy and reflexes have been affected as the stats show! YOU ALSO KNOW WHERE THE SNAKE WILL BAT (THE GREEN ROW ON THE GRID) - JUST TO CLARIFY, YOU WANT THE SNAKE TO MISS THE BALL (AT LEAST NORMALLY).

1) State here what ball you’ll use and how you’ll throw it.

2) go to the google powerpoint link here. Use the accuracy circle and put it where you want to aim. (ON THE LAST PAGE)

3) go to the roll link and Roll your accuracy stat check to see where the ball will end! Just tell me your score and I’ll take it from there.

There’s more hints to stat reveals on the snake’s thoughts that Snowfrog revealed with her mind-reading abilities.

Strap in for the next phase guys! Feel free to do whatever you want as Pitchoris gets ready to pitch! You can obviously still try and do stuff to affect the snake but outside mechanics etc..

Warty: Boop

SNAKEY IS OUT!

Warty: Stavros is back with a bang! Or should we say a blinder!
Snorty: Hellz yeah Warty! And look at Snowfrog back in her bag catcalling Snakey away!
Warty: I think it’s having an effect on it, it looks super distracted!
Snorty: Let’s see if it’s distracted enough to see what Pitchoris has in store by throwing his last special ball, the EXPLODER!

Warty: Hmmm.. Snakey is out but splattering around with zero composure can be distracting for later! Let’s see if the team will engage in combat and put it out of its misery

Snorty: Maybe Warty maybe! But they could also sway it to their side and get useful info for what’s to come?
Warty: NO PRISONERS!Snorty: But-
Warty: NOOOO PPPRRRIIIISONERS!!!!!!

Warty rips his shirt off

Snorty: Okay then… How about they keep Snakey prisoner for info then?
Warty: Oh yeah sure.. but they could also leave him there and die slowly.. or kill him! HA!

Snorty: Oh Fizzlefudgedoodles Warty! While we were debating on the morals of imprisonment on the exchange on the information, there’s a new Snake on the lillyplate!
Warty: Looks big, serious and deadly!

Snorty: Let’s see how the team deals with him while Pitchoris winds up!

OOG: Okay guys! One snake down! Two to go! Remember that you can go the traditional baseball route or engage combat whenever. If composure goes to zero, the snake engages you in combat! To speed things up a bit:

Pitchoris: now that you have no special balls, you can only throw normal ones. If you could just do enough rolls for 3 throws at once it would be great. Go the link, aim once and do three accuracy rolls and three power rolls.
Jorren: you have the sinker and the splitter in your possession, do with them whatever you like. Do mind control Boa you need to do the relevant checks again!
Everyone else: Your equipment is still in effect. Feel free to think outside the box to mess with the snake, or do the necessary checks to reveal the info on the snake as shown on the table! You can also mess up SNAKEY SNAKE who is splattering around as shown on the map on the link, and the comic strip!

A TENSE EXCHANGE

THROW 01:

Warty: Pitchoris’ focus knows no bounds. Knowing the wind from Jorren’s wind-reader gives him a new edge. This edge is very edgy. Being able to read the wind, Pitchoris starts throwing balls like there’s no tomorrow.. and for all we know there might not be! THIS IS WAR AFTER ALL!
Snorty: It’s the first throw and Pitchoris’ focus is superdupermega strong it seems to be going exactly where he’s aiming. If I didn’t know any better I’d think he’s remote controlling it!
Warty: Same! I don’t know how he managed but his throw seems quite strong too!
Snorty: It’s the power of friendship

Warty: It’s always the power of friendship

Snorty: The ball is so quick the Boa barely has time to realise what’s happening.

Warty: What a loser! Doesn’t even swing! The ball goes straight through strike zone onto Jorren’s glove!
Snorty: STRIKE! 1-0

THROW 02:

Snorty: With the wind still on Pitchoris’ side, he goes for yet another deadly throw!

Warty: Is it deadly though?

Snorty: I don’t know if the ball slipped through his fingers too early or something, but this throw is a bit off!
Warty: Maybe he’s compensating for the wind?
Snorty: Maybe! It’s a bit more powerful but not too much! The Boa can see this one going slightly off the strike zone! It doesn’t even bother to swing! It’s a ball!
Warty: We’re at a tense 1-1!

Snorty: Oh man I hope not swinging doesn’t increase potential power on the next swing!

THROW 03:

Warty: Pitchoris seems focused and disappointed at the same time!

Snorty: Look at that wind-up!

Warty: His wind-up is so quick as he releases the ball.. but wow.. that’s one SLLLOOOOOW trajectory.

Snorty: Yeah his power isn’t that great.

Warty:…… still going

Snorty: …. and going

Warty: OOOH finally it’s reaching Knotty Boa! Looks like the Boa can read the throw!
Snorty: I wouldn’t worry about it, doesn’t seem to know about the wind!
Warty: The Boa swings! and HITS A BULLSEYE!

Snorty: Shit.

The ball is in the air! A new trajectory course. Time for the whole team to figure out how to tag the snake as it slides to the next base! It’s not the most powerful hit but it’s travelling!
The snake is slowly accelerating towards first base and it’s weirdly about to go on a super straight line.

OOG:

OH no! Almost had him but he swung and hit. You can see on the powerpoint link the trajectory of the ball. The red square is where the ball will end up. When it gets there, the snake will take three turns to reach the first base.

The ball is now in mid-air and it’s passing through the first base and second base quadrants. As the ball goes through infield, anyone who is in the infield can act - this means, Knobby, Stavros, Snowfrog, Orestis you have 2 actions at your disposal each. To get ideas on what you can do, check out the google doc. If you just write up/state what you want to do and do relevant 1d20 rolls we’ll take it from there. If you’re not sure what rolls to do, just post what you want to do and we’ll take it from there.

You can go for the ball, change the environment, use Snakey Snake, attack the Boa.. mess up the Boa.. distract it etc. Jorren you have 1 action in your disposal too.. could be anything (inside or outside the box) towards the snake or the ball, or your team members.

I suggest you all check the mechanics for this and I’m here for questions as I’m sure there’s some loopholes.

THE FROGS GOT IT! ..I THINK

*Warty went on a pee break, today it’s all up to Snorty to deliver the goods.*

Snorty: It’s a crazy day to be watching frog baseball folks! The ball is in the air and to be honest it feels like it’s been in the air for a while, something like a week almost! That’s crazy! As the ball stays in the air, the Boa begins to accelerate towards the base! OMG what’s gonna happen??

Knobbywood is ready for some serious impact. He gets his shoulder checking game on while holding his feet ready and steady on the lillypad, waiting for someone to finally throw a ball to him! He’s been having that arm ready since the beginning of the inning which was a long time ago, but he is not tired at all thanks to all the crotch thrusting that kept him warm and the fans noisy! As I say all this the snake is still accelerating in a surprisingly super straight line!

Pitchoris is doing good to just watch a bit, although he doesn’t look like his calm self, he’s at least relaxing his pitching arm. AWESOME.. umm.. what else what else.. OH WOW!

Is that Stavros?? Stavros’ quietness seems to have worked its magic! Look at that massive leap! He’s a whopping 39 inches off the ground! If he wants he can glide for quite some time! Is that what he’s up to? NO folks! He’s going for it! Confident that his prep from before increased his aim enough, he just shoots his tongue towards the ball as it’s in mid air! OMG OMG OMG the tongue is shiny and amazing and it’s like an awesome iridescent colour like that early NOKIA phone or something BUT THAT’S NOT THE POINT! The point is that the tongue is heading nicely towards the spinning ball! The tongue sticks to the ball and the ball stops spinning and changes its trajectory straight to STAVROS OMG! Who would have thought? Stavros is holding the ball before it fell in the water! You know what that means folks! The Boa is OUT! 2 Snakes OUT one of which is severely injured splashing around!
Out you go BOA, loser!…wait why isn’t the Boa leaving? It’s still heading straight to Knobby, it looks angry AF!! Oh crap oh crap, I can see some blood coming out of the boa’s ‘tail’.. is that…?  OMG folks that’s a harpoon stuck in there! What’s that weird shadow under there? Wait what happened while I was focusing on the ball?
*Snorty looks at the replays*

Oh wow folks I can’t believe I missed that, but it looks like Snowfrog, yes our shy little Snowfrog, panicked and totally attacked the Boa and engaged it in combat. The Harpoon just about pierced the snake as she somersaulted in the water. Judging by the replay and the shadow, she is still underwater

*Switches to underwater camera*

Ha wow Snowfrog somersaulted in the water but forgot that her harpoon is still attached to the snake, so she is effectively being dragged along with the snake! Look at those trajectories! Let’s hope she uses this to her advantage, unless she wants to just waterski or something! Looks like the snake lost some health and is pissed off and ready to continue combat! What will our frogs do? Is this baseball or fighting? What will Stavros do? Throw the ball to the snake? To knobby for him to swing his bat? Keep the ball? Throw it to Knobby to keep the ball? So many options that I can’t even think of and probably better! Regardless.. they got balls, bats, guts, limbs, tongues.. and teamwork! Let’s see what they got in store baby!

THIS IS LOOKING SWEET!… oh no.. fudge.. what’s that in the horizon? Crap folks.. with two snakes out, the third snake is coming.. ready to bat and it looks fierce.. its the RAINBOA

.. I can’t tell if we are screwed or not…

WHIIIIZZZ
Wait what’s that in the sky?? Is it a bird? a plane? It’s a bird! And what’s that next to it which is even weirder? OOOO that looks like a frog on some sort of AVATAR like glider! OH SNAP! The tide might turn in our favour still! (if it isn't already)

WE GOT A NEW OUTFIELDER ENTERING THE POND! Koo has arrived on the scene with her badass equipment and superpowers!

OOG:

Awesome Stavros! Your earlier bonuses on your accuracy just about pushed the roll above the Difficulty Check I had :D

So you guys are now engaged in combat with the Boa. Combat works very similar to Defending. You can chain and the equipment you have is still baseball related.

You can all fight now, and you can always use things from the drawings to interact with for the fight or not.

Check out the Powerpoint and the Google doc for info on the snakes, combat and the underwater area.

Also: Welcome our NEWEST FROG! Paige AKA KOO! Card added at the top!

KOO I can send an email to explain a few things if you don’t want to go through the whole blog so far!

Also: If anyone wants to share their address privately by email to me I have goodies for you!

Re: Rainboa, no need to worry yet (unless you want to) he will only be ready to bat in the next turn.

Next post on Wednesday! :D

MINDFULNESS HAS A NEW MEANING

Orestis sees the ball in midair and swings his hell raiser ferociously! The amount of speed the ball gained through gravity and friendship is incredible! Sure he sliced the swing a bit but the ball is headed towards the boa’s knots! Is this final blow? NO WAY! But the damage is good anyway! I guess a stunned snake on its weak point can’t handle too much pain! (but can handle a bit!) The Boa although weaker is still hanging on!

The bad news is that the Boa just snapped out of its stunned state! What’s he gonna do now?? Looks like its eyes are still on KnobbyWood, but feeling Snowfrog’s harpoon could be enough of a distraction

Up in the air Koo and Stavros are gliding freely! Koo is 35 inches off the ground and Stavros is 29 inches. Stavros contemplates on whether he should land but cannot find a good spot.. I think.. unless he thinks those two kids fighting over the toys is a good spot to land! or maybe that frog selling pop corn?? Well if he wants to land he’ll have to choose one of those two spots.

Koo is soaring through the skies somehow unnoticed by the Rainboa.. I wonder why folks!

Speaking of Rainboa. Pitchoris, still holding on to the Snakey Snake.. uses his back leg and throws the ball towards the boa with incredible aim! Power.. not so much.. The Rainboa can see the ball coming from miles away! It’s ready to bat but the foul smell of the ball hits the snake first! The snake drops the bat and tries to block its nose! The snake doesn’t even swing and that’s a STRIKE! 1-0 for Pitchoris.

Looks like the Rainboa does not like that though! Although still composed, it’s obvious it’s annoyed and it looks at Pitchoris straight in the eyes! Some strange circles seem to emit from its brain! Is it a super strong wifi signal OMG!!

Ah ok.. no.. it’s just mind control… phew..

The snake successfully takes hold of Pitchoris' brain and I’m guessing it’s directing thoughts straight to him.. I guess it’s something like: “Oh wow this Warty commentator is so handsome and strong, I bet he’d be great in this team.. too bad you don’t have the same strength as him you tiny frog. Relying on poop to win one over me eh? Well how about a taste of this”.. and with that awesome probably true statement, Pitchoris poos on another ball and throws it towards Knobbywood with his TONGUE! Ew! Pitchoris can taste the poo and then he licks his own eyeballs for good measure.

In the mean time, Snakey Snake is tripping too and hurts itself a little bit!

OOG:

Stavros if you want to land you need to choose where from those two options.. your awareness wasn’t great!

Pitchoris: you are being controlled by the snake for the next turn and it made you lick yourself, so now you are also tripping balls! you still roll but you roll twice and use the lowest number (you’re at a disadvantage trying to fight off the snake’s control) - so if you wanna speed up the pitching process go ahead and give me 6 rolls of aim. *You can choose to fight too though

Snowfrog: You are still underwater

Knobby: Your eyes are open again!

Everyone else have at it!

SIDE NOTE: How do you guys feel about moving this to discord to make the whole interaction process a bit more intuitive? If you’re up for it I’ll start setting up the adventuring part there and people can drop on and off as they like?
